L’evento è andato in onda su MTV UK, in alcune grandi reti degli Stati Uniti e anche su YouTube. Tra coloro che hanno partecipato attivamente a questa manifestazione di beneficenza: Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Madonna, Shakira, Jack Nicholson, Colin Farrell e anche tante celebrità del mondo della moda.

Demi Moore e il marito Ashton Kutcher hanno chiesto ai fan su Twitter di donare all’Unicef, mentre Brad Pitt e Angelina Jolie hanno messo un milione di dollari a disposizione di Medici senza frontiere. Ma per quello che è stato definito dall’Onu «il peggior disastro mai affrontato» ci vorranno 120 milioni di dollari solo per aiutare i bambini nei prossimi sei mesi.

“Hope for Haiti” continuerà ad accettare donazioni per i prossimi sei mesi e i proventi verranno divisi tra i cinque maggiori enti che operano attivamente per il soccorso della popolazione colpita dal terremoto: Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF e Wyclef’s Yele Haiti foundation.
